What is Divided Society?

Divided Society is a digital archive focused on the Northern Ireland ‘troubles’ and peace process. It is a project of the Linen Hall Library.

How do I register?

The site is free in the UK and Ireland. Visit www.dividedsociety.org to create an account.

The site is available by subscription to the rest of the world. Visit www.dividedsociety.org for subscription details. Access is granted through secure IP authentication.

I’ve forgotten my password, what do I do?

Enter your email address here, click ‘Forgotten your password?’, and you will be emailed with instructions to create new password.

My institutional account is disabled, what do I do?

Contact your institution’s Library immediately, their subscription may have lapsed.

How is an institutional subscription renewed?

Institutions will be notified one month prior to their three-year or annual subscription renewal date.

How is an individual subscription renewed?

Individuals with yearly access will be notified one month prior to subscription renewal date.

Individuals with monthly access will be notified one week prior to subscription renewal date.

Can I download content?

Yes, content can be downloaded.

Can I save content?

All material can be bookmarked and saved.

Is there a takedown policy?

Can I use the content for commercial purposes?

No, the content is licenced under the Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial 4.0 International Licence.
